He has extensive experience across a range of business law specialisations including trusts, joint ventures, business sales and purchases, property, financial services, banking and insurance law and the many other legal areas affecting individuals and businesses on a day to day basis.
John’s particular interest is in small to medium enterprise (“SME”) businesses and family businesses and the people who own and operate them. He is experienced in dealing with the wide range of legal issues affecting their personal, trust and business affairs including business and trust structuring, succession planning for individuals and exit and transition planning for the businesses they own.
In addition to his trust and SME business work, John also provides legal advice to a number of leading domestic and offshore companies operating in New Zealand in a diverse range of industries including computer and software distribution, manufacturing and packaging, primary production, retailing, commercial and domestic lending and financial services and insurance regulation.
John is a member of the Banking and Financial Services Law Association (BFSLA) of Australasia, a director of a number of private companies and a trustee of various family trusts.
