Today we farewell Christina Bryant, who departs Hesketh Henry after more than two decades of distinguished service to join Mills Lane Chambers as a barrister.
Christina joined Hesketh Henry in 2003, following early career experience with another New Zealand firm and a period in the United Kingdom, where she completed a Master’s degree at King’s College London and practiced with Capsticks. She became a Partner in 2006 and has since played a significant role in shaping and strengthening the firm.
As a litigation lawyer, Christina has led some of New Zealand’s most complex and high-profile commercial cases, Royal Commissions, and Government Inquiries – including at appellate level. She has also supported the growth of our specialist insurance and construction practices and contributed significantly to the firm’s litigation offering.
Her influence extended beyond client work. Christina held various governance and leadership roles, including serving on our Board for 12 years and as the firm’s Managing Partner from 2021 to 2023. She has also been a regular faculty member of the NZLS Litigation Skills Programme, reflecting her broader commitment to the profession and her interest in advocacy.
Christina’s move to the independent Bar is a natural next step for someone of her calibre and experience.
While she will be missed, we look forward to continuing our professional relationship with her in her new role. We thank Christina for her outstanding contribution to Hesketh Henry and wish her every success as she begins this exciting new chapter at Mills Lane Chambers.
