Hesketh Henry is pleased to announce that Managing Partner Nick Gillies has been elected to the Board of Yachting New Zealand (YNZ), the national organisation for sailing and boating. YNZ represents over 200 member clubs, classes and affiliated organisations and is responsible for managing New Zealand’s Olympic sailing programme.
Nick’s election follows several years of voluntary work as a campaign advisor to Isaac McHardie and William McKenzie in their silver-medal winning campaign in the 49er class at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He brings legal, governance, and sailing experience to the role, with involvement from grassroots through to high-performance yachting.
Hesketh Henry has a long-standing specialist marine practice and was proud to have also supported Isaac and William in their bid for Olympic success. Nick’s appointment aligns with the firm’s commitment to maritime matters and its support for the wider community.
New Zealand has a proud legacy in the sport of sailing. Nick looks forward to contributing further to this at the highest level.
