Alan Sherlock is a Consultant in the Litigation Group, with a broad commercial litigation practice and a strong focus on insurance law. His experience spans banking and finance, insolvency, construction, and general contract and tort claims.
Alan advises on a wide range of insurance matters, including marine, fire and general, reinsurance, and third-party liability—particularly directors’ and officers’ liability and professional indemnity. He also has specialist expertise in maritime law, acting for marine insurers and commercial shipping enterprises.
Before joining Hesketh Henry in 1998, Alan practised in London and with a national law firm in New Zealand. Alan was a partner at Hesketh Henry from 2001 to 2023. He is a member of the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand and the New Zealand Insurance Law Association, and has published articles on marine and insurance law in both jurisdictions.
