Erich Bachmann

Erich is a consultant in our Corporate and Commercial team, bringing over 40 years of experience in advising on business agreements and transactions. After serving as a Partner for 37 years including 22 years as Managing Partner, Erich continues to provide specialist expertise in mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, commercial contracts and regulatory approvals.  He is widely recognised for his clear, commercially focused advice on complex domestic and international matters.

Erich has extensive experience in advising overseas entities entering the New Zealand market, whether through acquisitions or establishing new operations. He provides sound guidance on the legal infrastructure and commercial contracts which are essential components of successful businesses.  Fluent in German and Spanish, Erich brings a global perspective to his practice. He serves on the Board of the German-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce, is its immediate past President, and is the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Auckland. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande) in 2018. Erich is recognised in The Legal500 Asia Pacific Directory Hall of Fame for Corporate and M&A.
