Richard Chen is a Senior Associate in the Property Team, advising clients on the acquisition and disposal of significant property portfolios, as well as a broad range of property matters including land development, financing, leasing, and due diligence.
He specialises in subdivisions and complex title issues, including cross lease matters. Richard regularly collaborates with surveyors, planners, and accountants on large-scale development projects, providing practical, commercially focused advice to developers, financiers, and investors.
Richard also has extensive experience in residential property transactions, assisting first-home buyers, seasoned investors, and high-net-worth individuals with purchases, sales, “off the plans” agreements, and occupation right agreements.
Richard draws on his background in general practice and experience at a national law firm to deliver tailored, strategic advice. He is fluent in basic Mandarin and is actively involved in the legal community as a member of the New Zealand Law Society’s Property Law Section and The Law Association of New Zealand’s Property Law Committee.
Richard regularly presents seminars to lawyers, property professionals, and the public on topics such as buying “off the plans,” settlement issues, and navigating the home buying process.
