Erich Bachmann, the Managing Partner of Auckland based commercial law firm Hesketh Henry, has been awarded the Cross of the Order of Merit with Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany (Verdienstkreuz am Bande) in recognition of his services to the nation and the bilateral trading relationship between New Zealand and Germany. The Order of Merit is awarded by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany to German nationals as well as foreigners as a high tribute for their achievements and outstanding services to the nation.
Erich is the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Auckland, a position he has held for the past 11 years. He has also been closely involved with the German New Zealand Chamber of Commerce since its inception and as its President for over 15 years. He is a current board member of the Chamber and its immediate past president. He was also recently appointed as the Deputy Dean of the Auckland Consular Corps.
