Employment Law Update

Overview

Please join us on Zoom for an employment law seminar to discuss some topical updates.  Our presenters, Jim Roberts, Kirby Kleingeld, and Bridget Perkins, will be covering the following topics:

  1. Surely, I can make someone on parental leave redundant just like any other employee – right?
Navigating parental leave in the context of restructuring – what additional obligations and steps do employers have/need to take when employees are away on parental leave during a restructure?
  2. Responding to Privacy Act requests – what’s in, what’s out and what it’s all about
Practical guidance – what Privacy Act requests are, what personal information means, key requirements to be aware of, when information can be excluded from a request and how to manage this.
  3. Can I just direct employees back to the office? Not so fast – flexible working can be inflexible
How to manage working from home requests or make changes to these arrangements from contractual and good faith perspectives, the special meaning of and requirements around flexible working requests under the Employment Relations Act, and an update on a few recent cases.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
