Summer clerkship programme for senior law students

Are you a penultimate university student with an eye on the future? Our summer clerkships offer you a chance to experience hands-on work in litigation and one other discipline. We only bring in as many summer clerks as we need for the graduate positions in the following year. Applications open early March.

Join Our Insurance Team

Position Overview:
We are seeking an Associate Insurance Litigator with 3-6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join our talented team. The ideal candidate will have some experience in insurance litigation, regulatory prosecutions or trust matters, and will have a strong litigation background, and a passion for delivering outstanding client service.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients in insurance-related disputes.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings and other court documents.
• Collaborate with senior lawyers and partners on complex cases.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations.
• Attend court hearings and trials as required.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications:
• 3-6 years PQE with a focus on litigation.
• Preferably some experience in insurance law.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
• Admitted to practice law in New Zealand.

Hesketh Henry’s construction team is experiencing significant growth.  We are on the lookout for a talented Senior Associate to join our team.  Our construction team is involved in some of the most prominent disputes in the industry and holds top rankings in leading international directories.

What We Do:

Our construction practice spans both ‘front-end’ and ‘back-end’ services.  We handle everything from contract reviews to resolving intricate construction disputes.  Our work includes managing live project issues, handling time and cost claims on commercial projects, and dealing with a range of defect disputes. This role offers a dynamic and engaging environment where you can tackle a variety of challenges.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Ambition and a drive to learn: We are seeking someone eager to grow and deliver outstanding results for our clients.
  • Experience: Ideally, you have 6-10 years PQE with a background in handling various disputes and exposure to mediation, arbitration, and High Court proceedings, as well as adjudication proceedings. Experience in construction law, whether contentious or front-end, is a plus.
