Hak Jun Lee received a special recognition award from the South Korean President for his service to the local NZ Korean community. Hak Jun serves as a member of the National Unification Advisory Council which is a presidential consultative institution established in accordance with constitution of the South Korea. His other current appointments include:
- The honorary legal counsel for the Korean Consulate Office in Auckland;
- The advisor for Auckland and Busan (Korea) sister city relations;
- The trustee for Korean Cinerama Trust responsible for the annual Korean Film Festival in New Zealand;and
- NZ Governor for International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL).
