Elizabeth Rabier is a Special Counsel in our Commercial Property Team

With a robust professional background spanning over two decades, Elizabeth brings a wealth of expertise in property and real estate law to our team. Her distinguished career includes pivotal roles such as serving as the in-house Legal Counsel for Harcourts New Zealand, holding the position of General Counsel for Ray White Damerell Group, and contributing as the Commercial Lawyer for Stonewood Group.

Elizabeth seamlessly integrates her extensive experience gained from working in-house for prominent real estate agencies and a private developer. This unique perspective allows her to provide clients with pragmatic advice, tailored to their specific needs, in a timely fashion. 

Elizabeth advises on a diverse range of property-related matters, including:

  • advising clients on buying and selling residential and commercial properties;
  • overseeing fee simple and unit title developments and subdivisions;
  • managing development funding processes;
  • crafting design, build and lease agreements, along with development agreements involving entities like Kainga Ora and Kiwibuild;
  • navigating construction contracts and building agreements;
  • expertise in preparation and registration of easements, residents’ societies, land covenants, and caveats;
  • handling the removal of building line restrictions (and subsequent land purchase) and limitation as to parcels from land titles;
  • ensuring REAA compliance and addressing related complaints;
  • handling commercial leasing, lease reinstatement negotiations, Property Law Act notices, and disputes;
  • facilitating the buying and selling of businesses;
  • structuring joint ventures and limited partnerships;
  • overseeing service and supply contracts;
  • specialising franchising in New Zealand and Australia;
  • expertise in general security agreements. 

Elizabeth is a member of the New Zealand Law Society’s Property Law Section’s Law Reform Committee and an Accredited Specialist of the New Zealand Law Society’s Property Law Section. Her commitment to the legal community is further demonstrated through her previous roles as a committee member of The Law Association’s Documents & Precedents Committee and the Property Law Committee. Additionally, Elizabeth is on the Board of the French New Zealand Chamber of Commerce & Industry and has in the past dedicated her time as a volunteer legal adviser at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and served on the Board of Trustees for Richmond Road School in Grey Lynn.
