Please join us in person at our offices or on Zoom for an employment law seminar on the Gloriavale Employment Court cases, and a refresher on who qualifies as an “employee” under section 6 of the Employment Relations Act 2000 (the Act).
Gloriavale: An Insight into the Legal Fight
Our guest presenter, Brian Henry, is a Barrister who regularly acts on behalf of employees and has most recently acted on behalf of a number of Gloriavale leavers, in successfully arguing they are employees of the Gloriavale community.
Brian will provide insight into the section 6 argument through the lens of an employee as well as discuss the claims and findings in Courage v Attorney-General and Pilgrim v Attorney-General. Brian will also share his predictions on what is to come in the topical area of section 6 – employment status.
Our Hesketh Henry presenters, Jim Roberts, Madeline Wrigley and Mary Weatherall, will kick off the seminar with a refresher on section 6 of the Act in the context of the recently litigated employee vs. contractor debate.
